The Salzburg native researcher Lorenz Hübner made a “foot trip” through the Archbishopric and Imperial Principality of Salzbug in 1794 and also visited our mountain country and was an excellent observer. “The blow of the people who inhabit the so blessed Pinzgau by nature”, Hübner pushes, “is well designed on average, more slim than shrunk and more than mediocre. Anyone who accused the Pinzgau of stupidity or dullness was very wrong, the Pinzgauer had a lot of natural wit and healthy judgment. You could also see people with cuppets and rags here, but not in such large quantities as in Pongau and Lungau. The Pinzgauer is at least considerably more understandable and sometimes more capable than its rural neighbors.
